About Wilford
WILFORD PHIRI was born on November 20, 1990 to Esinati Jafroni on the Pondarosa Farm. He is the 3rd of 8 children born to Esinati. She died on March 14, 2003 at the Eben Farm where she is buried. Wilford’s siblings are Kenneth, Loveness, Willani, Stanford, Sarudzai, Farai and Petro. Wilford lives at the Eden Children’s Village with Willani, Stanford, Sarudzai, Farai, and his cousin, Mwanyara. This family came to the attention of Eden Staff when Petro was brought to the gate in March 2003. He was dying of dehydration. He recovered and Eden Children’s Village became aware of all the other children in the family. Wilford attends Eden Christian Academy. He loves school and likes learning English and math. ECA uses Accelerated Christian Education curriculum and this has been beneficial in allowing Wilford to catch up the education he had missed before coming to Eden. He loves to play soccer. His favorite team is Dynamos and also CAPS United. He played for Eden Christian Academy at the Zimbabwe Student Convention and the All Africa Student Convention in South Africa in 2006 and 2007. Eden’s team won the six sided soccer competition in 2006 and came in third in 2007. Wilford was nominated to attend the ACE International Student convention in May 2008 in the U.S. He was nominated due to his athletic abilities. We trust God for the funds to send Wilford in May.
