About Nyasha

Nyasha Mutemagasa was born on 10 November 1990 to Sandra Mutemagasa. Sandra died on 28 October 2002 after struggling with AIDS. Sandra also left a daughter, Lisa, and a son, Stephen. Lisa and Nyasha both were placed at Eden Children’s Village, as Sandra had visited a lawyer and had a legal document drawn up to place the kids at ECV upon her death.

Nyasha likes to knit (by hand) and was learning to use her mother’s knitting machine. Sandra was not able to teach her all she needs to know about using the knitting machine, so during the school holiday Nyasha will be attending a special school to learn how to use the machine better.

Nyasha was attending high school in Mhangura, but had to repeat her second year of high school. After two terms of repeating, it became obvious she was not getting the help she needed to succeed in school. Nyasha transferred to Eden Christian Academy for third term of 2005. She has done a remarkable job of catching up. She finishes 25 – 30 PACES each term.

Nyasha attended the Zimbabwe Student Convention for ACE in 2006 for the first time. She and 6 others from Eden Christian Academy did so well they were nominated for the All Africa Student Convention. Nyasha attended and again did well with athletics. She was invited to attend the International Student Convention in 2007 but was not able to attend. Nyasha attended the All Africa Student Convention again in 2007. She has been nominated again for the International Student Convention for 2008 where she will compete in athletics. She loves to run the 100 meter, 200 meter, and 400 meter runs. She has also helped in the 4 x 400 m relay. In all the conventions she has also entered knitting projects, in the large and small ensemble groups, and entered the photography competitions.

Nyasha is a beautiful, tall, young lady. She has a gorgeous smile and is quite shy. Because she is a good athlete we are praying that doors open for her to pursue her education on athletic scholarships. When asked what she would like to do in the future if there were no limitations, she said she would like to be an eye specialist or a psychologist. Nyasha is a wonderful Christian young lady. She was baptized on 8 September 2002 at Doma Fellowship.

While Nyasha is NOT HIV+, her younger sister, Lisa, is HIV+ which is a constant concern for Nyasha.
